Swiggy has officially introduced its UPI payment feature in India, aiming to enhance the efficiency of transactions for its users. Partnering with the National Payments Corporation of India, this development seeks to streamline the payment process by minimizing the steps involved, leading to a quicker checkout experience. Currently available across their platform, users can now enjoy the benefits of this innovative solution for both food and grocery orders.
Swiggy's new payment feature utilizes the UPI Plugin from NPCI, first introduced in 2022. This advancement allows merchants to provide UPI services without needing a Third Party Application Provider license within their own applications. As a result, transactions can be conducted directly within the Swiggy app, which may help decrease payment failures that frequently occur when users are redirected to third-party apps.
The availability of Swiggy UPI has been confirmed by Gadgets 360 staff, who tested it on both Android and iOS devices. The feature is designed to cut down the time required to complete a UPI transaction on the platform from a lengthy 15 seconds to a mere five seconds. Additionally, Swiggy UPI provides real-time notifications about potential transaction issues, such as lack of funds, incorrect information, or technical difficulties, allowing users to address these problems promptly and finalize their payments securely.
In order to utilize Swiggy UPI, users must first register for the service. Once registered, they will have access to various functionalities, including account management, transaction history, inquiries, and frequented questions. If needed, users can easily unlink their account by selecting the Delink Swiggy UPI option at the bottom of the interface.
